Key Roles

These are the key principals to every Brockworth RFC role

  

  • Collective      Responsibility — Committee decisions are supported publicly once      agreed.
  • Transparency     — Clear communication of decisions, finances, and policies.
  • Safeguarding     — Uphold RFU safeguarding standards and mandatory reporting.
  • Volunteer      Support — Encourage, recognise, and retain volunteers.
  • Player      Development — Decisions should prioritise player welfare, progression,      and enjoyment.
  • Financial      Prudence — Ensure sustainable budgeting and responsible spending.
  • Compliance     — Follow RFU, league, and Combination rules.

President

John Harris

  

Purpose: Ambassadorial figure ensuring continuity, culture, and long‑term vision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Club      Ambassador — Represent the club at official events, RFU meetings, and      community functions.
  • Governance      Oversight — Ensure the committee operates within constitution and best      practice.
  • Strategic      Guidance — Support long‑term planning and sustainability.
  • Conflict      Resolution — Act as an impartial mediator when required.
  • Volunteer      Recognition — Promote a culture of appreciation.

Accountability

Reports to the membership at the AGM.

Chairperson

Dave Alden

  

Purpose: Lead the committee, ensure effective governance, and drive operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Committee      Leadership — Set agendas, run meetings, ensure decisions are actioned.
  • Operational      Oversight — Coordinate all committee roles and ensure smooth running.
  • Policy      & Compliance — Ensure safeguarding, health & safety, and      disciplinary processes are followed.
  • Strategic      Delivery — Translate long‑term goals into annual plans.
  • Risk      Management — Maintain risk register and mitigation plans.

Safeguarding Officers

Scott Reeves & Aaron Pritcher 

 

Scott and Aaron are committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all club members involved in rugby.  This includes recognising, preventing and responding to safeguarding concerns and providing guidance on safeguarding issues to all members of the club.


Everyone at Brockworth RFC shares the responsibility for safeguarding and creating safe environments in rugby union whether as a parent, coach, spectator or club official.  


All should operate within an accepted ethical framework and demonstrate exemplary behaviour to both safeguard children and protect all personnel from allegations of abuse or poor practice. 


Children, who are anyone under the age of 18, will be cared for in the  correct manner, as set out in the RFU Safeguarding Children Policy. 

Treasurer

Sam Barnett

  

Purpose: Maintain financial stability, transparency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial      Reporting — Monthly reports, annual accounts, AGM financial statement.
  • Budget      Management — Prepare and monitor annual budget.
  • Income      Oversight — Track subs, sponsorship, fundraising, grants.
  • Expenditure      Control — Approve spending, maintain receipts, ensure dual‑signatory      processes.
  • Compliance     — Ensure HMRC, banking, and RFU financial rules are met.

Accountability

Reports to the Chairman and membership.

Secretary

Position Open

  

Purpose: Ensure administrative efficiency, legal compliance, and accurate record‑keeping.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting      Administration — Minutes, agendas, action logs.
  • Club      Documentation — Maintain constitution, policies, and official records.
  • Communication      Hub — Liaise with RFU, leagues, Combination, and members.
  • Membership      Records — Maintain accurate membership database.
  • AGM/EGM      Management — Ensure proper notice, documentation, and voting      procedures.

Accountability

Reports to the Chairman.

DOR

Robert Harding

  

Purpose: Lead rugby strategy, player development, coaching standards, and performance pathways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Player      Pathway — Oversee Junior‑to‑Senior transition and talent      identification.
  • Coaching      Standards — Recruit, support, and develop coaches; ensure RFU      qualifications.
  • Training      Programme — Set training structure, pre‑season plans, and performance      goals.
  • Selection      Policy — Ensure transparent, fair, welfare‑focused selection.
  • Player      Welfare — Oversee injury management, return‑to‑play, and mental      wellbeing.

Accountability

Reports to the Chairman.
